2. Lesson Opening:
We have been talking about food in this unit. We have completed lessons about different restaurants we may go to. At the restaurants we order food to eat. The restraurants we talked about were places you go to get food. A different service is called “Delivery”. A person from the restaurant comes to your door to deliver food. The doorbell rings. Who goes to answer the door? Way to go, an adult answers the door! When the adult answers the door, what do they say? That’s great, Hi! Next the pizza deliverer tells the adult an amount of money. The adult counts the money to give the pizza deliverer. We give money to buy things. We need to count the money to give to the pizza deliverer. Let’s use our helpers to make decisions about who delivers pizza and how to count to buy pizza. Then we will complete the book builder activity together. At the end of this lesson you will be able to look at varying pictures to make decisions about questions of pizza deliverers.

4. Lesson body:
MODEL:
I lead the children to name the person or animal in the picture on book builder.
· Lady- person
· Woman- person
· Dog- Not a person: an animal
· Boy- person: (does not deliver pizza- young)
· Snake- Not a person: a reptile (animal)
· Cat- Not a person: an animal
· Girl- person: (does not deliver pizza- young)
Discuss a person delivers pizza and animals do not deliver pizza. Depending on children’s level, continue with different types of animals (i.e. reptiles/animals), young and old people, etc.
LEAD: Teacher guided problems/discoveries (guided practice)
Now together, we will review the book and name person or not a person. A person delivers pizza.
TEST:
I will say each child’s name to let you know it’s your turn, we will go by ourselves to name person or not person.
DIFFERENTIATION:
All students will have many opportunities to review the book builder with friends and teachers. The coaches on book builder increase the level of questions. Justin; asks for person or not person, then he extends for other children to name if the animal is an animal is an animal or a reptile. Justin also then requests for the child to name if the deliverer will deliver pizza or not. Monty; asks for children to notice tall or short. Monty asks the child if old or young will help identify pizza deliverers. I (Miss Ashley) helps children count money using one-to-one correspondence on the pizza deliverers request! Each child has different coaches to assess their individual goals.

5. Lesson closing:
Remember we are working on noticing who will bring us pizza. We know we have to pay the person for the pizza. An adult must answer the door to help us count the money to buy the pizza.

7. Evaluation:
During the next week we will be reviewing book builder (i.e. some students may only need to complete the activity 16/20 times to gain 100% accuracy).
